LinkWarner Bros. has announced the title for the upcoming "Man of Steel" sequel that will bring together Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.
"Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice." It has a certain je ne sais quoi, no?
Set for release on May 6, 2016, the follow-up will be directed by Zack Snyder, with Henry Cavill reprising his "Man of Steel" role as Superman. Ben Affleck takes over as Batman and Israeli actress Gal Gadot portrays Wonder Woman. Jesse Eisenberg has been cast as Lex Luthor in the film, which will lead in to a planned "Justice League" movie that Snyder also will direct.
Warner Bros. has not yet confirmed which characters will appear in the "Justice League" film, though Holly Hunter will appear in a role newly created for the vehicle. Other notables include Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane, all reprising their roles from "Man of Steel."
Last week, Snyder released the first photo of Affleck as Batman on Twitter, perhaps quieting some of the naysayers who have been disappointed in the casting choices for "Batman v. Superman." In the photo, Affleck's Batman is standing beside the newly redesigned Batmobile.
Check it out below.
More shots might be forthcoming: Production for "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" has just kicked off in Michigan. In addition to the Detroit area, the film will also shoot in Illinois, Africa and the South Pacific.
What do you think of the title? Does it sound fittingly dramatic for a standoff between two legends?
