Although unheard, it was the second time the "First Love" singer was caught saying the F word live on the show.
Trying to make light of the incident, host Ryan Seacreast later on nudged Lopez to say that she had only been saying how "fun" the 17-year-old contestant's performance had been.
During the top 4 finalists round on Wednesday, the contestants were asked to sing three songs with breakup, makeup and dedication as the themes, Gold Derby reported.
Presley's classic song was Jena Irene's take on the makeup theme, which made Lopez really emotional.
Before singing with the piano, Jena Irene said it was so intimate. When she came to one high note, Lopez uncontrollably mouthed the F word.
Right after Jena Irene finished her song, Lopez got up on stage and embraced her.
Lopez was apparently blown away by the teen's performance and even shouted her excitement to "Idol" mentor Randy Jackson, who is always in the audience.
Mentioning that this is her third year doing "Idol" and she has never gotten up to kiss a contestant after a performance, Lopez said "I have to kiss you!"
The Latina beauty said she was glad she was there to witness the beautiful reinvention of the King's song by Jena Irene.
For judge Harry Connick Jr., the performance "took such immense courage. Very simply put, it was incredible."
Describing her performance as a spellbinding one, judge Keith Urban said that Jena Irene was a species unto herself and a "musical platypus."
Connick Jr. regarded Urban's comment as "some crazy Australian wisdom."
Joining Jena Irene in the final four of the 13th season of "Idol" are Caleb Johnson, Jessica Meuse, and Alex Preston.
