Update: Daisy Ridley's showreel has been taken down. I wonder why…
The official announcement of the "Star Wars: Episode VII" cast is a mix of familiar faces from the original trilogy and actors like John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver, who have appeared in recent reports.
And then there's Daisy Ridley.
The young actress seated comfortably between Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher wasn't mentioned in any of the previous news stories about casting the new trilogy.
(Neither was Domhnall Gleeson, but starring in the "Harry Potter" movies doesn't exactly qualify him as an unknown.")
Ridley's first credited role came in 2013 on the BBC series, "Casualty." She also appeared in an episode of Jeremy Piven's series "Mr. Selfridge." "Episode VII" is, by far, Ridley's most high-profile role to date… because how could it not be?
According to the profile on her agent's website, Ridley is a talented singer and dancer, as well as a "highly skilled" swimmer.
Though a search result doesn't turn up much on Ridley besides ecstatic "Star Wars" casting stories, there is a showreel, which gives you an idea what watching her run around a spaceship might be like.
And, hey! A "Star Wars" reference in that first clip.
"Star Wars: Episode VII" opens in theaters on December 18, 2015.
