Steven Spielberg will be directing an adaptation of the popular Roald Dahl novel The BFG. Before Spielberg works on this project, though, he will be teaming up with Tom Hanks for a Cold War thriller.
Variety reported that this feature will tell the story of a young girl who leads a friendly yet large giant and the Queen of England on a journey to stop a more dangerous giant from eating children.
Dreamworks acquired the rights to the film back in 2010. The studio will also be behind the upcoming Cold War thriller that will feature Hanks.
This latest project from Spielberg will also have him teaming up with script writer, Melissa Mathison, who last worked with the director on E.T..
Frank Marshall will be producing the film, along with Michael Siegel and John Madden as executive producers.
Indie Wire reports that production on the film will start in 2015 and the studio is looking at a possible 2016 release date.
